Corrections & Updates Policy
Last Updated: April 1, 2026
Action News is committed to accuracy in all of our reporting. When we make mistakes, we correct them promptly and transparently. This policy describes how we handle errors, corrections, clarifications, and updates to published content.
1. Our Commitment
Accuracy and trust are the foundations of our journalism. We believe that acknowledging and correcting errors openly is essential to maintaining the credibility our readers expect. We do not sweep mistakes under the rug — we fix them, explain them, and learn from them.
2. Types of Changes
We categorize changes to published articles as follows:
- Corrections: A factual error has been identified and fixed. This includes incorrect names, dates, numbers, titles, locations, or other material facts. Corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with a description of what was changed and when.
- Clarifications: The original content was not factually wrong but was unclear, incomplete, or could be reasonably misinterpreted. A clarification note is added to provide additional context.
- Updates: New information has become available since publication. Significant updates — particularly for developing or breaking news stories — are noted with a timestamp. Minor updates (such as fixing typos or improving formatting) do not require a formal notice.
- Retractions: In rare cases where an article is found to be fundamentally flawed or based on unreliable information, we may retract the article entirely. Retracted articles are replaced with a notice explaining the retraction.
3. How Corrections Appear
When a correction or clarification is made:
- The article text is updated to reflect the correct information.
- A correction notice is appended to the article, typically at the bottom, indicating what was changed, why, and when the correction was made.
- The article's “last updated” timestamp is revised.
- We do not silently remove or alter content to cover errors. All substantive changes are documented transparently.
4. Reporting an Error
We encourage readers to bring errors to our attention. If you believe a published article contains a factual error, please contact us through any of the following channels:
- Email: editor@actionnews.online
- Contact Form: Contact page— select “Corrections” as the category
When reporting an error, please include: the article title or URL, a description of the error, and any supporting information or sources that demonstrate the correct information.
5. Response Time
We aim to review all correction requests within 24 hours of receipt. Once an error is confirmed:
- Minor factual errors (typos in names, incorrect dates, etc.) are corrected immediately with a correction note.
- Substantive factual errors are corrected as soon as the correct information is verified, typically within the same business day.
- Complex or disputed claims may require additional time for investigation and verification.
6. Headlines and Social Media
If an error appeared in a headline or was shared on our social media channels, we will update the headline and, where possible, issue a follow-up social media post noting the correction. We recognize that headlines and social posts often reach a wider audience than the article itself and take particular care with their accuracy.
7. Editorial Accountability
Our corrections process is overseen by senior editors who are responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of all published content. Recurring or systemic errors are reviewed to identify process improvements and prevent future occurrences.
